D-Link receives IPv6 Ready Core Logo Phase 2 Certification- Demonstrates D-Links commitment to provide high level secure networking

South East Asia

D-Link International, one of the worlds biggest suppliers of network products, today announced that the companys DGS-3200 series and DGS-3600 series of xStack® Gigabit managed switches received the IPv6 Ready Core Logo Phase 2 certification from the IPv6 Forum. This certification demonstrates D-Links commitment to providing the highest level in interoperable and secure networking, while meeting the growing demand of IPv6-capable functionality from the corporate entities and specific vertical markets.

A worldwide consortium with a key focus to provide technical guidance for the deployment of IPv6, the forums IPv6 Ready Logo certification is a conformance and interoperability testing program that aims to increase user confidence by demonstrating IPv6s secure networking capabilities. Compared with Phase-1, Phase-2 verifies optimum compliance because it expands more core IPv6 protocols tests and adds new extended test categories.

Receiving the IPv6 Phase-2 Ready Logo signifies that D-Link DGS-3200 series and DGS-3600 series xStack Gigabit managed switches have satisfied all of the IPv6 Forums compliance and interoperability requirements. Both of the switch series are not only IPv6 capable but are also interoperable with other standard-based products in a multi-vendor environment that support IPv6 functionality. This IPv6 Phase-2 Ready certification also further ensures customers the saving of migration cost from IPv4 to IPv6 devices. In 2007, D-Links DGS-3400 and DGS-3600 series switches received the IPv6 Ready Logo Phase-1 certification.

The launch of the IPv6 Phase-2 certified DGS-3200 series and DGS-3600 series is further proof of D-Links commitment to providing our customers with best-of-breed technology applications to power up their network environment without incurring high costs, said Mr Desmond Toh, Marketing Director, D-Link International Pte Ltd. As these IPv6-enabled DGS-3200 and DGS-3600 series switches provide a secure network environment, specific vertical markets such as government and education institutions could especially benefit from the attributes that IPv6 technology provides for secure data communications.

According to the latest industry estimates (www.ipv6forum.com), the supply of new IPv4 addresses available from the regional Internet registries will run out in 2011. IPv6 fixes this problem by expanding the pool of new IP addresses by using 128-bit address. IPv6 also provides built-in security as well as network management and mobility enhancements.

The D-Link xStack® DGS-3200 and DGS-3600 series are the L2/L3 Gigabit solutions for business/enterprise and vertical markets. Both these series feature easy-to-use manageability, robust security and high reliability functions. The DGS-3200 series includes the DGS-3200-10, DGS-3200-16 and DGS-3200-24, and the DGS-3600 series includes the DGS-3612, DGS-3612G, DGS-3627, DGS-3627G and DGS-3650. These two series provide current IPv4 networks with a simple migration path to IPv6 and protects your investment for future network upgrades when greater security and larger addressing are required. The IPv6 multicast host, the latest in protocol technology, enables maximum hardware performance.

Price and Availability

All members of the DGS-3600 series are available now. The DGS-3200 series is expected to be available from quarter 2 of 2009 onwards.
